When is Valentine's Day in 2027?
Valentine's Day is named after Saint Valentine, a 3rd-century Roman saint. The holiday became associated with romantic love in the 14th century, partly through the writings of Geoffrey Chaucer. The oldest known valentine was written in 1415 by Charles, Duke of OrlΓ©ans, to his wife while imprisoned in the Tower of London.
People exchange cards (valentines), flowers (especially red roses), chocolates, and gifts with romantic partners. Heart shapes, Cupid, and the colors red and pink are iconic symbols. Many couples enjoy special dinners, while some celebrate 'Galentine's Day' with friends.
In South Korea, the 14th of every month has a love-related celebration. In Finland, Valentine's Day (YstΓ€vΓ€npΓ€ivΓ€) celebrates friendship rather than romance. In Japan, women give chocolates to men on February 14, and men reciprocate on White Day (March 14). Wales celebrates love on January 25 (St. Dwynwen's Day).
